Natural hair colour

Chemical based products are losing fans. In hair care, it is preferable to use natural hair products than chemical products. Natural hair products helps  to avoid hair loss and other side effects. Today I am going to tell you about natural hair dye which is called Henna. When used to dye hair, the henna paste coats the hair shaft and lawsone gradually migrates from the henna into the hair shaft through gaps in the cuticle, then binds with keratin and  strengthens the cuticle. This results in naturally colored hair. The colour of the hair settles and deepens with repeated use.

Henna helps to strengthen the hair and moisture retention. Moreover, scalp condition improves and it decreases hair loss and dandruff. The coating of henna on the surface protects hair from uv rays  and pollution, resulting in healthy and shiny hair overall. By using henna to cover white and grey hair. So using henna is advisable and also it is 100% natural.

If you  consider using henna hair dye, there are a few things you should know before you apply in to your hair:

1- Is Henna good for your hair?

Henna hair dye is considered as a good conditioner for your hair, and as a result your hair can be stronger, thicker and shinier. In addition,  henna helps to restore the natural ph balance of your hair and scalp.

2- How long does henna stay in your hair?

Henna is a permanent hair dye. The colour is most vibrant  for the first 4 to 6 weeks. In my experience it starts to gradually fade after that but I am not sure whether it ever goes away completely.  Keep in your mind that if you want to dye your hair later, it may be difficult to go lighter in colour. Henna is very hard to lift out of your hair later.

3- It is  messy to apply and can strain your skin.

The first time I used henna, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I highly  recommend  working the henna through your hair in the bathroom.  So that you can rinse away any mess when you are done.

4- When mixed together henna has the texture of mud and it can feel a little awkward to use.

5- Before you apply the henna dye, protect your skin using a thick balm or cream. It is advisable to rub cream around your forehead, ears and neck.

6- Henna hair dye can take a long time to set. Depending on the colour you want, henna can take 1 to 6 hours to develop. That’s long time to have your scalp wrapped in a shower cap. The shower cap keeps the dye warm, and therefore more effective, while also preventing drips so you can walk around in your house.

7-  Henna will not necessarily even out your hair colour. In my experience, if you have roots or highlights, when you start you will still have  roots or highlights when you are finished.

8- It can be difficult to change your hair colour after using henna. Some brands of henna dye have metallic salts added to it. As a result, you can not use chemical hair dyes over them. The result is a chemical reaction that causes your hair to smoke. It is important to let your hair dresser know that you have dyed your hair with henna before you get started. So they are prepared.
